In the early days, my leadership style didn’t fit any of the documented styles. What is now known as collaborative, transformational leadership fuelled by high levels of emotional intelligence, heart and authenticity was seen as fluffy, loose and flippant.
I naturally launch into every challenge and tackle any question from a position of ‘brand first’. I lead with my heart, am highly collaborative, transparent, straight to the point, a chronic communicator, pathological question asker and love to win. I trust my gut and go for it, firmly focussed on the big goal at the time.
I don’t think there can be a separation in personal and professional values, and I cannot understand people claiming they are different at work than at home. The notion of ‘never say what you really think in a meeting’ has always baffled me.
